Majority of the work for adding the miner is complete. The RefreshDB DBus API has been extended to include an array of strings, denoting the content types we are interested in indexing, as its argument.[0] The patch has been committed to the 'master' branch.[1] The miner is almost done, too. I have submitted a patch for review and it shouldn't be too long before it is committed.
Meanwhile, I have shifted my focus to use this miner in GNOME Photos. The existing implementations of other miners are proving to be of tremendous help in aiding my understanding.
